It's a little more than 200 km. across the island. Fuerteventura is a true desert. You'll enjoy it here. It's like nowhere else; heavenly, solitary, endless white-sand beaches, the constant sun and the turquoise blue of the sea. Fuerteventura looks like a special place designed to enjoy the sun and the beach. <p><b>Dunes everywhere!</b> <br> The sand is white and delicate, and covers most of the shores. Like its sister islands, it is of volcanic origin, so you have all the components: beaches, dunes and volcanoes. <p><b>What are the most interesting places on the island?</b> <br> The Corralejo Dunes Natural Park located in the north. It has great expanses of dunes and white beaches of Jable sand, forming a nice contrast with the turquoise blue of the sky and the clear water of the sea. <BR clear=all> <IMG SRC="../img1/fu-fo-corra.jpg" ALT="Corralejo" WIDTH=240 HEIGHT=120 ALIGN="left" BORDER=0 VSPACE=20 HSPACE=20> <P>Very near, to the east of Corralejo, is Lobos Island, a small island, with a population of one - the lighthouse keeper. If you like diving don't miss this place, it's one of the best spots in the Canaries to practise your amazing sport. <P>The tourist area is on the southern tip, Jandía. Most of the accommodations on the island can be found here. Get absolutely lost from humanity; go to the beaches around this area: Sotavento, Barlovento, Cofete... and disappear! ...they're huge, white, quiet, nobody around for miles!<BR clear=all> <IMG SRC="../img1/fu-fo-tarajal.jpg" ALT="Tarajal" BORDER=0 HSPACE=4 VSPACE=20 WIDTH=240 HEIGHT=120 ALIGN="right"> <p><b>I see you like Fuerteventura's beaches!</b> <br> Yes, that's right! But if you want something more traditional visit Antigua, Tuineje and Betancuria where you can find relics from the English and Berber pirate attacks: towers, fortresses, castles, etc. You can also visit the volcanoes, such as Tindaya. <P>Fuerteventura is also a true paradise for beach lovers and windsurfers.
