The average temperature changes from 14 centigrade degrees in winter to a maximum of 28 in summer time, that is moderate for this latitude. <p>The shore, like the interior of La Palma, is abrupt and steep, with small creeks and natural swimming pools formed by the lava, like the Charco Azul (Blue Pond) and La Fajana, with incomparable transparent water. There are not many beaches, but some black sand can be found, like that in Puerto Naos or Los Cancajos. One of the most attractive beaches is Playa Nogales. <p><b>What is your advice about the island?</b> <br>Adventures, like those of Indiana Jones or Tarzan are to be found when in the luxurious foliage woods. The Caldera de Taburiente National Park has hundreds of streams, springs, falls, unique species of wood considered to be authentic living fossils. Also enjoy nice and funny adventure walks and free camping. <p>The 'Bosque de los Tilos' (Tilos Wood), declared Biosphere Reservation by the UNESCO is an incredibly attractive area. <p>Santa Cruz de La Palma is the capital of the island. It is one of the most charming towns in all the Canaries. The beauty of its streets, the squares and the houses have contributed to its reputation as an artistic and historical place. <p>Back to nature, there are many exciting places to discover. The Roque de Los Muchachos (Kid's Peak), the highest peak of the island, offers an incomparable sight of La Caldera de Taburiente. It has one of the best astronomical observatories of the world, thanks to the clearness of the sky. <p>Visiting La Palma is something not to be missed.
